“Gender Stereotypes” Please respond to the following:
Gender roles tend to be a “hot topic,” particularly when it comes to differences between men and women in the workplace (here I’m referring to in the United States, but certainly gender stereotyping is prevalent in many other countries, perhaps even more so than here!). What are the characteristics in women that men perceive as problematic in the workplace? Are these characteristics only “problematic” for women at work, or are women judged negatively for exhibiting certain characteristics in their personal lives too? Does cultural play a role in these differences? If so, how?
