Headings 3, 4, and 5 are run-in headings used at the beginning of the paragraph.] PROBLEM A sustainable city is a city that is free from any form of pollution. Cities and other forms of formal settlement experience pollution of different kinds that have been reported to affect the environment negatively. This study will focus on a sustainable city by focusing on hospitality. This is because the hotel industry has dominated significant towns and cities across the globe. Hotels use soap in their day-to-day activities (Lazaroiu & Harrison, 2021). In most cases, the soaps are produced from chemicals that pollute the environment. In this study, a proposal will be given such that if we experience sustainable cities, new natural soaps must be produced. This will minimize the use of chemical soaps, which have negatively affected the environment. The study is therefore anchored on “Respect for the People.” The proposed company aims at producing new soaps by use of natural methods. In this case, natural ingredients and components will be used in soap production. Most of the soaps produced from this method will be of great use in hotels. This will ensure that natural soaps replace artificial soaps in significant towns full of chemicals that have impacted the environment negatively. When water from soaps made from chemicals goes down, it contaminates the groundwater (Buonomo & Warshaw, 2021). This has dramatically affected the aquatic animals and the life of animals in the soil. This will ensure that the hospitality industry will play a significant role in fighting environmental pollution and degradation. The company proposed will major its operations in soap production. The soaps will be produced on a large scale. It will also ensure that the company becomes entrepreneurial by ensuring that more quantities of soaps have been produced, which will be supplied to other users within the city. The primary targets of the soaps that are being produced are hotels across all parts of the city. This is because hotels require soaps for various reasons. The first reason is that hotels within the city will require soap for cleaning, which includes cleaning the utensils, which is done regularly within the hotel. Residents and staff working within the hotel will also require soap for cleaning and other general purposes. The hotel industry will tend to explore new products and products related to the soaps produced by the company. One of the things that the company will have to ensure is that the quality of the soaps being produced must be guaranteed. Scholars have observed that most soaps are made from chemicals and substances that produce pleasant smells at the expense of human skin. Secondly, the company must ensure that it penetrates the competitive market, and one of the ways of doing this is by ensuring that parameters that enhance competitive advantage have been put in place (Buonomo & Warshaw, 2021). In this case, one thing that needs to be done is to ensure that the products have been differentiated. Product differentiation ensures that a company’s products have features that are different from similar products produced by other companies. The soaps this company produces must have distinctive features that differentiate them from other companies. The company will also ensure that measures have been put in place to ensure that customers and the hotels within the city have been attracted and retained to continue consuming products from the company. This will ensure that the company remains relevant in the competitive market. The company proposed can also ensure that old soaps in the market have been collected and adding value to them becomes more valuable and practical. The company will ensure that systems have been put in place to collect old soap products. The collected products will then be re-processed by the company, added value, and re-sold to hotels within the city for profit (Chirani et al., 2021). Used soaps will be recycled by the company and re-sold to the city hotels and other potential customers. As an entrepreneurship entity, the company will ensure that it collects data from the hotels within the city to establish the kind of soap-related products that will be required. Once this data has been collected, the company will ensure that the soaps and other related products that will be produced fit the specifications of the hotels. This will ensure that the supply of the products produced by the company meets the demand for soap products within the city. The company will also majorly produce more soap products, sometimes used in product promotions and campaigns. The company will also consider giving back to the community by ensuring that the company makes donations to society once in a while. This will foster good relationships between the company and the community. This is one of the strategies that the company could use to attract and retain more customers (Fameau & Marangoni, 2022). This is because once the community uses the donations they receive, they may be interested in obtaining such products from the company that gave the products to them. By so doing, they will become customers of the company that gave donations to them. Corporate social responsibility is one of the roles that every company needs to consider within the area where it carries out its operations. In this regard, every company must ensure that it offers help and support within its area. Some communities could be needy and poor. For this reason, the company will have to set aside a kitty that it will use to give back and serve the community. The proposed soap company could be more exceptional in corporate social responsibility. It is essential to ensure that the community enjoys the company’s products. The company will also ensure that a kitty has been set aside that will be used to ensure that the social needs of the society have been addressed. This will create good mutual relations between the community and the company, which will benefit the company in the long run (Ferracane et al., 2021). The company can best handle this by ensuring that systems have been put in place to ensure that the needs of society have been identified and well addressed. The proposed soap company is purely entrepreneurial, so the management must ensure its establishment’s agenda, goals, and objectives have been met. Entrepreneurship skills will ensure that strategies have been put in place to ensure that the company produces soaps at low costs and sell them at relatively fair prices without exploiting consumers and making profits. The hospitality industry has been identified to be a key industry into which a company can comfortably venture. This is because of the rising number of hotels within and beyond. This has also led to a rise in demand for soap-related products. For this reason, more companies must be established to ensure that the supply of soap products within the city matches the demand for the same products (Ferracane et al., 2021). As this happens, companies must ensure that companies maximize profits. Several factors must be put in place to ensure this has been achieved. TARGET MARKET Because the hospitality industry is one of D.C.’S most vital sectors, we would like to choose one hotel in Washington DC for our assignment. Domestic and international visitors are one of our major groups associated with the target market. According to some statistics from MMGY Travel Intelligence, in 2019, D.C. welcomed a total of 24.6 million visitors, setting a new record for the city. Moreover, the expenditure of both domestic and international tourists increased gradually from 2015 to 2019, amounting to $8.15 billion in 2019. Therefore, domestic – international visitors are ideal for selling our products. Figure 1. MMGY Travel Intelligence; Travel Market Insights, National Travel & Tourism Office, U.S. Department of Commerce Additionally, couples are another demographic of the hotel industry. They tend to seek hotels using high-quality products and good conditions. According to Jessica Salver, author of “Brand Management in the Hotel Industry,” childless couples have more disposable income than families and thus demand luxury goods more frequently. Furthermore, families are group spending gradually on vacations and holidays. They have kids, and after covid 19 pandemic, most of them are likely to use sustainable goods. As a result, they are really into environmentally friendly products such as natural bar soap. Finally, one group cannot be ignored as business travelers. They are a prized consumer group in the hotel industry by their willingness to pay higher room prices. NEED It really depends on each group. We will identify the hotel’s customer segments of our hotel specifically in the following ways: – Build guest profiles together with hotel receptionists. – Survey guests with the list of questions that interest the hotel the most.  – Create a questionnaire in Google Forms — a free service for survey creation and analysis. – See what online reviews on, TripAdvisor, and Google say.  After collecting the data, it is so essential to consider the following factors to profile customers: Why they are traveling (vacation, anniversary, business trip, leisure); What is defining about them (gender, age, relationship status); Where they are from; What they pay attention to when looking for accommodation; How they book hotels (website, over the phone, OTA, social media); What they use to communicate with hotel representatives (phone, social media, instant messengers, email); How often they stay at hotels; How much they spend on trips and accommodation on average; What their hobbies are; What they enjoyed the most about your hotel (quality of service, prices, extra services, location). How to attract guests knowing our target market? It is crucial to know all the characteristics of typical guests, so it will be easier to promote the products. For instance, we will promote on social media in communities dedicated to specific hobbies. The conversion rate will be low initially, but some people will engage with you. Later, we can specify and improve our offer in another advertising campaign. To publicize the hotel, look for an influencer most closely resembles the guest profile. In this case, the blogger will likely mention factors that our target market considers when selecting lodging. Furthermore, guests would rather trust the advice of someone to whom they can relate. We also have an advertising outdoor with a link or Q.R. code at metro stations and airports. Customers can refer a friend or family to book the hotel and give them 10% off on their next booking, and they will receive 10 % off too. Besides, we can also convey the idea of using natural bar soap for donation in undeveloped countries. SOLUTION WHAT IS OUT THERE ALREADY? According to Crockett (2022), many of us first use packaged soaps in the hotel room’s bathroom during a stay in a hotel room. A significant percentage of guests (86%) use soaps in their short-term stays (Crockett, 2022). Hotel chains spend both money and time choosing toiletries. Then most of the guests leave behind those used soaps. Every year, hotels 440B pounds of solid waste, including bar soaps and bottled amenities (Crockett, 2022). As stated by Chiarini, Kowsari, Teymourian, and Ramakrishna (2021), according to World Health Organization (WHO), soaps are one of the most important things to get protected against infections. Water consumption during the use of soap increases the wastewater rate by up to 18%, and this situation causes reduced quality of water (Chirani et al., 2022). Then if those processes are not treated, soap surfactants would be released into the freshwater, which may cause massive harm to nature and the people, and the treatment process struggles to treat wastewater. According to Kent and Copeland (2014), soaps and detergent wastes harm the layers and gills of fish. On the other hand, soaps and detergents affect the outer cell layer of insects and critters’ fishes eat and cause them to die (Kent & Copeland, 2014). When the detergents lower the surface tension of the water, aquatic insects stick to the water’s surface, which may cause fish starvation. The phosphorate in detergents causes freshwater algal blooms, which will devour oxygen in the water and make fishes too hard to respire. WHAT IS NEW THAT WE CREATE There is a social enterprise called Clean the World, and according to that enterprise, by recycling discarded soaps by the hotel chains, this enterprise collects and recycle those discarded soaps and distributes them to hotel chains back while donating recycled soaps to children and families with a high death rate of infected countries. This enterprise mainly prevents hygiene-related sickness deaths by donating recycled soaps (“About Us Overview – Clean the World,” 2018). As stated by Katanich (2021), an organization in Switzerland collects, recycles, and distributes used soaps from luxury hotels to prevent diseases and improve sanitation. World hotels discard millions of soaps to landfills every day, which causes environmental problems. If dumped soaps ignited in landfills, they would create the same CO2 emission as gasoline (Katanich, 2021). According to Hilton Worldwide (2011), the Hilton is in collaboration with Global Soap Project, which is a non-profit organization regarding the recycling of soaps instead of dumping them in landfills. The Global Soap Project recycles and remolds the used soap and turns them into new bars of soap in order to distribute them to hygienically vulnerable nations (Hilton Worldwide, 2011). Hilton Worldwide (2011) claimed they expected to donate more than one million 4-ounce bars in the first year of its partnership with the Global Soap Project. MARKETING Our company name is …………………….., and we were built in Washington DC in 2022. Mission: To reduce the damage to nature by reproducing the old soaps to collect from hotels. Vision: Being the benchmark of excellence in reproducing old soap from the hotel and protecting the environment. Our mantra: If it is good for the environment, it is most likely good for business. The real buzzword is organic and natural. Our idea is from hospitality. Every day, thousands of soaps are thrown away, and no one makes an effort to recycle them. Many hotel guests ask for more than one soap and use only one, and the other soaps go straight to the trash. Hotels are making more purchases to meet their soap needs, and factories are producing more to meet this demand. This means more use of raw materials and chemicals and environmental damage. We aim to recycle our soaps and use them in hotels again without using more raw materials and chemicals. Our first step is collecting these soaps in hotels, recycling them, and selling them back to hotels. The other stage is the meeting of these soaps with the intermediary company and the customer. Product: Our product is tangible. Soaps collected from hotels will be classified according to their scent and type and will be processed again. The scent of most soaps used in hotels is lavender. Therefore, our main product will be lavender-scented soaps. No chemicals will be used during recycling, completed with natural methods. The boxes of the soaps will be made of materials that can transform into natural flowers, and there will be zero environmental harm. Price: Soaps will be collected free of charge from hotels. However, this will be a collection and transportation fee. The cost of recycling, that is, the cost of production will be calculated. The price will be determined after adding packaging, other expenses, and profit. Pricing will vary according to the bulk purchases of the hotels. This pricing will vary more when selling to the subject customer because rival companies come into play here. The profit share can be opened sparingly. Also, since we are a new company, we cannot compete with a high price. Place: The primary market is hospitality. To collect old soap from the hotel and sell it to the hotel. Next level, we will sell to the public. Promotion: We will establish strong relations with hotels and continue to share actively on social media. One of our most extensive plans is direct and interactive marketing. REFERENCES About us overview. Clean the World. (n.d.). Retrieved November 1, 2022, from  Buonomo, M., & Warshaw, E. (2021).
